Sherod McCormick | Cox Mill High School

Sherod McCormick is set to have a stellar freshman season at Cox Mill High School in Concord, North Carolina. As an 8th grader, McCormick started 22 games for Concord Academy, averaging 8 points from the field. He was the starting point guard on a State final-four team, but with the transfer to Cox Mill high school will, the winning ways translate.

Evaluation:

He’s somewhat undersized but simply knows how to control the game through a blend of IQ, pace, and poise. McCormick does a great job of touching the paint and setting up others, but can also finish or hit an array of floaters/runners. He displays craftiness off the bounce, shoots the ball at a reliable percentage, and outworks his assignment on both ends of the floor. McCormick is also a pesky on-ball defender with a quick first step and nice anticipation instincts.

McCormick has been battling an ankle injury, which has caused him to miss the first two games of the season. He is set to return in 2 weeks, where he will face his old squad in the battle for concord.
