Alek Kornaski - Concord Academy
Kornacki has been one we have watched over the past year, and programs that are looking to check off the boxes of size, developing skill sets, and impacting the game on both ends should be looking more his way this year. Since coming to North Carolina, Kornacki has continued to put in the work and develop more of his game and feel, showing better touch around the basket, production offensively and being assertive, stronger on the boards, and helping alter shots defensively. He is one that I would look at more this upcoming season.
Alek Kornacki is a 6'11" center from Warsaw, Poland, who moved to Concord, North Carolina, in the summer of 2023 to attend Concord Academy and play for coach Frank Cantadore. He faced some struggles adjusting to a different style of play in the first half of his Junior season, but he took a huge leap after the Christmas break. He was shooting 53% from the field on five rebounds and one block a game.
Another leap would come when the AAU season started in April. Kornacki would start out playing for CC Elite. It showed his shooting and passing ability, allowing him to show college coaches a different side of his game. Interest started picking up, and UNC Charlotte, Elon, WCU, and others began to reach out to Kornacki with interest. In his AAU season that spanned from April to July he average %30 from the 3 point line which impressed college coaches as they look to stretch the floor in the modern game.
This past September, Kornacki took his first visit to Elon University. He told me he was impressed with the University and hoped they would continue to evaluate him and, hopefully, offer a scholarship.
